Birthday Party

Saturday arrived, and we celebrated Zachary's 1st birthday with family.
Here is the cake that he got to eat all by himself.  I was really proud of myself this year, because I got creative and made my own cakes.
This is the cake that everyone else got to eat.  Did I do a good job or what?
Opening presents.
After the first one was opened all Zach wanted to do was play with it.  He had no care at all that there were more presents with more toys.

As you can tell, he loves trucks.
Cake time.  This was the first picture that Kelly got.  It looked like he was going to lean over and take a bite.  He even tried to blow out the candle, then mom ended up doing it for him.
He thought this was quite interesting that I would just let him go to town on this cake.  Aunt Julie lifted it up for him so that he could take a bite of it.
Poor Zach would not go down for a nap before the party started, so he started to get tired while eating his cake.  But he didn't want me to take it away because he wasn't finished yet.
You have got to love the black streak across the face.
This is the cute shirt that Aunt Heather made for his birthday.  He is our big little boy now.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come and share in this special day with Zachary.  It was great to see everyone and be able to visit for awhile.

Happy Birthday Zachary!

I can not believe that my little guy is turning 1.  What a year it has been.
Just the other day I was looking at him while he slept in the car, and I commented to Kelly how he looked like a little boy instead of a baby.

This is one of the looks that he has been giving lately and I couldn't resist putting it on the blog.
I will post more pictures later as we celebrate the big day with all of our family tomorrow.

Allie's 1st Birthday

Here is Allie enjoying her first year birthday cupcake.  She did such a good job, and she didn't get very messy.  She wasn't too sure about everybody singing to her though.

Here Zach was testing out the sugar cookies that Aunt Heather made for the party.
Kylie eating one of the cupcakes.
Allie was so cute as she was opening her presents.
We had a great time at Allie's party and can not wait until our own little Zachary has his own 1st birthday.

Trying a new recipe.

At Easter time my husband and I love to eat the Russell Stovers Coconut Nests.  Here is what they look like in the ones that you buy in the store.  Kelly was looking for recipes on line one day for something totally different and came across one that said coconut easter nest.  So we decided to give it a try.  Kelly made them at home here in Coalville and then I decided that I needed to make them for my mom while we were in Green River, cause she likes them as much as we do.
Here is the finished product of how they turned out.  I even made some green ones (mint).
They are really easy to make.  All you need is a bag of Milk Chocolate Chips and a third of a bag of coconut.  Take the coconut and spread it out on a cookie sheet.  Broil it until it turns a golden brown color. (Make sure you watch it, cause it doesn't take long.)  Melt the chocolate chips in a bowl in the microwave, the mix the two ingredients together.  Form into nest shapes on a pan and add the jelly beans for decoration.
If you want to do the mint ones, use white chocolate instead, add flavoring, and food coloring.

Zachary wasn't quite sure what to think.
But he watched Kylie's every move with those eggs.

Asking Kylie Questions

I took this idea off of my sister in law Tristin's blog.
So I decided to ask Kylie the same questions.

Ask your child these questions and record the answers! This is a fun one, regardless of the child's age! Kids just say the funniest things!

1. What is something I always say to you? Help with the baby!
2. What makes me happy?  When I be good.
3. What makes me sad?  When I don't help with the baby.
4. How do I make you laugh?  Tickle me.
5. What do you think I was like as a child? You had curly long hair.
6. How old am I?  33?
7. How tall am I?  Don't know.
8. What is my favorite thing to do?   Make dinner!  "Giggle, giggle, no don't write that."   Hug Me!
9. What do I do when you're not around?  Play with Zach!
10. If I become famous, what will it be for?  A singer?
11. What am I really good at?  Hugging me.
12. What am I not really good at?   Putting stuff up for Holidays!  "Laughing at me"
13. What is my job?   Being a school teacher.
14. What is my favorite food?   I don't know what is it?  Fries?
15. What makes me proud of you?  When I be good.
16. If I were a cartoon character, who would I be?  Miley Cyrus
17. What do you and I do together?  Snuggle
18. How are we the same?  Play with Zach?
19. How are you and I different?  You have blue eyes and I have brown.
20. How do you know that I love you?  You tickle me.
21. Where is my favorite place to go?  To Walmart?

Easter Egg Hunt

While in Green River this weekend, we had a little easter egg hunt for the grandkids.

Here Kylie is trying to help Zachary so that I could take some pictures. He didn't want to have anything to do with walking in the grass or picking up the eggs until I started to help him.

Zachary getting some help from Grandma Parsons.

Allie had no trouble at all. She was after those eggs and giggled as she picked them up.
Here she is with her Grandma Konopelski.

Still a little unsure of the grass. But walking great.

Adding and egg to the basket.

Kylie finally got to have her turn looking for eggs.
(We made her wait until the little ones got there share.)
She had a little bit of a hard time finding the last few.

Zachary loves sitting in the rocking chair. Here he is watching Pooh Bear.

Mom and I thought it was funny that he kept putting his legs up.

Passing the Time

A couple of weeks ago, I was working at school for a little while on Saturday and I had Kylie and Zachary with me.  Kylie was left in charge of Zach so that I could get the project done quicker.  Kylie being the creative one that she is decided to come up with a way to entertain Zach.  She was pulling him all over the school in this box.

He loved it so much that when she tried to get him out he didn't want to.  So she just let him sit in there for a minute and he was perfectly content to do so.

Having Fun

I was trying to get a couple of fun pictures of Zach today.  He really loves to cheese it as soon as the camera comes out.
I love this one.  He has a really great smile.
For some reason this past week Zach has decided to stick his tongue out a lot when he is doing things.  Maybe it is his way of concentrating.  Kelly's dad said that Grandpa Doug always stuck out his tongue when he was concentrating on something.
Here is a picture of Zach walking.  Today for some reason he decided to just start taking off and he was walking everywhere.  Watch out mom, when we come to GR he is going to be in everything.
Kylie and Zach
In the next two videos, I caught Zach starting to walk to Kylie.  He had been doing it for quite a while and by the time that I got the camera out he had decided to make a game out of it and started to tease his sister a little bit.
